See exactly how your tax return is prepared
Every return goes through a rigorous, documented process under the supervision of IRS-licensed Enrolled Agents and Certified Public Accountants. No black boxes, no guesswork.
The complete journey: from intake to IRS acceptance
This is the exact workflow we follow for every client, designed to protect your rights and ensure accuracy.
Intake & engagement
You fill out our secure intake form (Google Form) with basic details – name, filing status, types of income, and any special situations. Within 4–6 business hours, our team reviews your submission and sends you a fixed-price quote and a formal engagement letter outlining the scope of services, your rights, our responsibilities, and the fee agreement. No hidden charges, no surprises.
Secure document upload
Once you accept the engagement, we provide a link to our encrypted client portal (256‑bit AES encryption). Upload your W‑2s, 1099s, last year’s return, government‑issued ID, and any other relevant documents. We never ask you to email sensitive data. The portal also serves as your personal document vault for future years.
Preparation & workpapers
A dedicated tax preparer (an Enrolled Agent or experienced CPA candidate) drafts your federal and state returns using professional‑grade software. Every entry is supported by a detailed workpaper file that documents the source of each number. This is the same standard used in top accounting firms – it creates an audit trail and allows for easy revision.
CPA technical review
Once the draft is complete, a licensed Certified Public Accountant independently reviews the entire return. The CPA checks for accuracy, compliance with current tax law, eligibility for credits and deductions, and potential audit risks. If anything needs adjustment, it goes back to the preparer for correction. Only after the CPA signs off does the draft move forward.
Client review & e‑signature
You receive a watermarked PDF draft of your return along with a summary of key figures and any recommendations. You can review every line, ask questions, or request changes. Once you’re completely satisfied, you sign the e‑file authorization forms (Forms 8879) electronically. We never file without your explicit approval.
E‑file & confirmation
We transmit your return to the IRS and state agencies through our authorized e‑file provider. Within 24–48 hours, you’ll receive the official IRS acceptance confirmation (and state acceptance where applicable). Your documents remain securely stored for at least three years, and we keep you updated if any notices arrive.

Common questions about our process
How long does the entire process take?
Once we have all your documents, standard turnaround is 3–5 business days for the draft. Complex returns (multiple states, K‑1s) may take longer. E‑file acceptance typically comes within 24–48 hours after filing.
Is my information really secure?
Yes. Our client portal uses bank‑grade 256‑bit AES encryption. We never ask you to email SSNs or sensitive files. Your data is stored on encrypted servers and is never sold or shared with third parties.
What happens if the IRS rejects the return?
If the IRS rejects the e‑file, we immediately investigate the cause (usually a mismatch in name, SSN, or prior‑year AGI). We fix it and resubmit at no extra charge.
Can I speak to the CPA or EA reviewing my return?
Absolutely. All service tiers include direct communication with your preparer and the reviewing CPA. You can ask questions by phone, email, or secure portal message.
Do I have to pay before I see the draft?
No. We prepare the complete draft and let you review it before payment. Once you approve, we process the payment via Stripe and file immediately.
What if I find an error after filing?
If an error is due to our work, we will correct it and file an amended return at no cost. If the error is due to information you provided after filing, we'll prepare the amendment for a modest fee.
